Our Story

Welcome to Mrs D’s, where our passion for all-natural ingredients and traditional recipes has been satisfying cookie and slice cravings from the very beginning – way back in 1988!

Starting as a beloved local shop, located in the Unley Shopping Centre, Mrs D’s Cookies, owned by Leonie Davis, shared freshly baked treats direct with our wonderful community.

As demand for these delightful cookies grew, Leonie saw a golden opportunity when the shopping centre closed for redevelopment. With her creativity and drive, she ventured into wholesale distribution – starting right from her own home kitchen!

Our journey into wholesale was a sweet success. Leonie was a trailblazer in home-style hospitality, introducing charming glass countertop jars to retailers, a now-essential way to showcase our cookies. With a heart for the community, she also donated surplus cookies to local hospitals, a gesture that not only spread joy but also sparked even greater demand for our beloved treats. Today, you can still find Mrs D’s cookies and slices in many hospital cafes across South Australia!

As the business flourished, Leonie moved from her kitchen into a small, shared space in Netley and after a couple of other short stays, a move in 2003 found us in our current home in Marleston.

After 30 wonderful years of sharing her baking passion with loyal clients, Leonie decided it was time to pass the ‘rolling pin’ on. In October 2022, her youngest son James and his fiancé Annunziata stepped into the bakery, bringing their own energy and enthusiasm to continue the legacy.

With Annunziata leading day-to-day operations and James supporting from behind the scenes, they’re thrilled to embrace the next chapter of Mrs D’s, honouring the rich history and unwavering quality that Leonie built.
